I need to know from those of you who own Storm's, what version of firmware you are sitting on at the moment.
I have .78 which seems to be ancient compared to what the rest of the world has. I don't liek version chasing, but I have serious bugs, phone lockups, performance problems left and right, sms tones not working, and a huge list of other issues, which are all no doubt, software problems.
Vodacom doesn't seem to know when updates will be available to us, and the vodacom site downloads only lists up to the Bold (Storm is too new still?).
Be as it may, Ive dumped loads money into this device, and Into vodacom, and the least I could expect is a proper supply of the latest f/w updates as RIM makes it available.
ANy idea where I can the updates, if they are available, and lastly, is it mandatory to use the VODACOM SA provided ones or can we use some (?!) other version.

Last night, the long awaited new firmware update for the BlackBerry Storm 9530 became available online. This latest leaked OS build is 4.7.0.114 and includes the newly updated version of the cut and paste function for the first touchscreen BlackBerry. As we previously reported, instead of using two fingers to highlight a block of text to be edited, the new version uses a gray rectangle to help you more easily highlight the specific text. Some users who downloaded the new OS are complaining that the dial pad will not come on the screen during a call, replaced instead by the QWERTY keyboard. Other findings are that the problem with the icons still exists with colors looking faded. The full QWERTY keyboard is still available in portrait mode, the green 'GO' button still replaces the 'Enter' key when using the browser, various applications seem a little quicker, and the accelerometer is a little less sensitive which improves upon the last upgrade which left the screen switching orientation too easily. The bottom line seems to be that this will not be the next official software fix from Verizon and RIM. And because this is not coming from the carrier, we give you the friendly reminder that it is risky to download leaked software. Bad things could happen to your device, things that we wouldn't wish on anyone. Having said that, if you did download it, feel free to report your findings on the new firmware for the Storm 9530. And for those who count this sort of thing, the last official OS for the Verizon version was 4.7.0.75.

they need to release .99 as the official update. its still the most stable and nearly as fast as the others. 114 looks like a skip for me, regardless of the new and way improved way to move the curser around.

man i got .114 and didnt like it.. but when i tried to downgrade to .109 i couldnt find it in my blackberry desktop thing! i even downloaded it again and it still didnt show.. so i had to go back to .75 =(
