How often a water softener will regenerate or recharge, is controlled by the valve of a water softener system. The valve or “control valve” is the ‘brain’ of the softener unit, since it gives the commands as to when the softener regeneration process will occur. Use care when handling the EcoWater softener. Do notturn upsidedown, drop, or seton sharpprotrusions. Do not locate the EcoWater softener where freezing temperatures occur. Do not attempt to treat water over 120˚F. A water softener can remove hard mineral deposits in a home's water supply, particularly if the water comes from a well. Not only does the soft water feel better on the skin, but soft water keeps mineral deposits from building up in water heaters, washing machines and other household appliances, thus extending their usable life. You can set a water softener to regenerate at a specific time that best fits your family's schedule.

1

Remove the lid and refill your water softener's salt hopper with softener salt, then close the lid to keep debris out of the salt hopper.

Then update to the latest firmware and reset the EX6200 back to defaults. /access-point-ds-wifi-a-ethernet.html. Then set up the EX6200 as an extender ( IF you are not on then you will not necessarily have the Access Point option yet).

2

Take a sample of the hard water before going through the softening process to determine how much salt your softener will require for each recharge cycle. If the test shows results in parts per million (PPM), divide the PPM value by 17.1 to determine the grains per gallon (GPG). Set your water softener's hardness dial (sometimes referred to as a brine control) to match the GPG figure determined by the water test.

3

Pull out the timer knob and set the current time on the water softener's timer dial. Then set the time on the 24-hour regeneration dial when water is least used in your household.

4

Determine the average amount of water used daily in your household using the chart found within your softener's operation manual. Then set the softener dial referring to the number of days between recharges based on the usage chart.

When you switch from an old, rusty tank heater or water softener to a new, compact tankless system, you will be able to see the difference in quality of the water coming out of your taps. The other result is that you start to save energy and money. All by switching to a tankless model.

If you live in a hard water area then you definitely need a water softener as this is the only proven way to produce soft water.

Don’t believe the hype on “salt free”, “magnetic descalers” or “water conditioners” because none of them can produce soft water. It is not possible to convert hard water to soft water without using salt.

There are many brands of water softeners that can produce soft water for you and EcoWater is one of them. This article will put this brand under the spotlight and help you decide if it is right for you.

According to Oregon State University, hard water is dissolved minerals in water. Usually minerals like manganese, magnesium and calcium. The accumulation of these minerals can result in garments becoming yellow after laundry, white limescale deposits in your kettle and around your pipes. It can also lead to skin infections caused by bacteria trapped in the soap foam, and increased heating costs due to the reduced efficiency of your water heater.

The university reports that 85% of American households have hard water problems.

Looking at it from the outside, a water softener does not seem to do much. But there is a lot of work being done inside.

The work starts with part of the machine that does almost all the work: the resin.

According to Pennsylvania State University, the resin is a sand-like material that is coated with sodium positively charged ions, atoms with more electrons than protons. Hard water flows through the resin and exchanges its sodium ions for calcium and magnesium ions.

Eventually, the resin will consume all its sodium ions. This then leads to the water softener changing its mode to regeneration.

You probably don’t have to worry to much about all of this because the newer water softener models do this automatically. However, of you have an older machine then it is possible that the older ones need you to do this manually.

Also, during the regeneration mode, a brine tank washes the resin, replaces the lost sodium ions and removes mineral deposits.

This is why a water softener needs salt. But the good news is that usually, you only need to add salt to the system every 6 to 8 weeks. Maybe more if you require a lot of soft water and this will depend on a number of factors, including the size of the unit and the amount of water you use.

Softeners and Heaters

Electric tankless water heaters will not get as much mineral buildup as the old-fashioned types simply because there is no tank where the minerals can stagnate. But that does not mean that hard water has no effect.

It’s important to note that EcoWater is not the same as EcoSmart. EcoSmart is best known for being the top brand that makes tankless water heaters.

First, you have to decide if it’s okay to drink hard water, it’s usually not harmful to humans, but it can have a strange taste and cause the above problems.

The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, a Department of Energy dependent unit, said that hard water does not interfere with the daily operation of a tankless water heater. However, after many years of continuous use, the minerals could accumulate and reduce the overall life of the machine. This is important to note, as electric instantaneous water heaters have the longest life on the market. By softening the water, the device can run smoothly for decades.

The bottom line: using soft water for your water heater makes your heater last longer.

Like all water softener brands EcoWater don’t just produce 1 type of water softener, they have a line and range of water softeners. The EcoWater softener ecs range is listed below. Remember that the higher the number associated with the series, the higher capacity model it will be (this is usually the case but not always so double check).

These models are not necessarily the easiest to buy from places like Amazon. This means you may have to contact the manufacturer direct to buy or get the details of one of their authorized dealers.

EcoWater softener price is not listed anywhere but water softeners on Amazon typically start upwards from $550.

The EcoWater Compact Series water softening system is a compact single tank “cabinet” style softener. As the name suggests the priority with this machine is that it’s a reliable and convenient system for places that don’t have a lot of space.

The biggest selling point is that it can fit in the average cabinet which is far smaller then most water softeners.

Features of the compact series water softener:

  • Hydrolink Plus® Wi-Fi, which means that it comes with a monitoring app that you can use with your smartphone.
  • Water Meter: This allows chemicals to automate the feed dosing, the switch operating information flow and water consumption. All you need to do is set all of this up and it run by itself.
  • Hydrolink Plus®: Uses Wi-Fi to connect with your smartphone to send continuous and excessive water consumption alerts, system errors, salt and service reminders. This also includes detection alarm drainage water, which warns you when it drains a lot of excess water.
  • Uses electronic equipment capture use future demands so that it can accurately predict regenerations.
  • The models 100 and 200 come with transparent covers.
  • The multi-layered fiberglass resin tank reinforces the lining durable tank. This means that it does not degrade, rust or corrode.

This water softener system is available in a single-tank “cabinet” design. It is the EcoWater model that I recommend for either well water or municipal water supplies.

This softener model has a lot of the best features of the compact series. But this model is good if you’re looking for something to deal with much harder water.

Problem: By far the biggest issue with Eco water softeners is the injector sometimes getting clogged with sediment caused by dirty salt.

Fix: The simple fix is to regularly clean the resin tank injector.

I know it sounds very simple but by doing this on a regular basis, you will avoid one of the most common troubleshooting issues with water softeners.

To clean the injector, first engage the softener’s bypass valve to shut off the water. Next, relieve the water pressure by running the softener through a manual regeneration.

When it comes to popularity and number of sales, Fleck is by far the better model. It is the best selling water softener online and has lots of raving fans.

Although EcoWater generally provide good quality water softeners, they are hard to find and buy online. You will probably need to go through a lengthy online search or contact the brand directly.

Meanwhile you can pick up any Fleck on Amazon today with free next day shipping, get an Amazon accredited plumber to install it for you and have your softener up and running before the end of tomorrow.

The fact that Fleck is the best selling water softener on Amazon means you can read all the customer reviews before you buy. You will also benefit from Amazon’s return policy and customer support if anything goes wrong.

Why Fleck is Better

You should consider buying a Fleck water softener for the following reasons:

The SXT models are designed to consume less water which also means lower operating costs.

Fleck is the most popular water softener model selling today period. This means that there are lots of free help pages online talking about how to deal with any technical issues, troubleshooting and free manuals. More than is available for any other softener brand.
