Flatbush Zombies Trippy Train Raritan

Inspired by the Guide to Kanye West.

I decided a guide to Flatbush ZOMBiES needed it's own thread. In light of their recent Mixtape drop of BetterOffDEAD, I dove deep into all the Zombie's songs and picked and chose what tracks sounded best.

The group consists of three rappers from Flatbush: Meech Darko, Zombie Juice, and Erick Arc Elliot who also produces most of the groups beats. I took the time to write this out because I believe these are one of the finest rap groups out at the moment. The Zombies are bringing back the Hip Hop sound to it's roots, all while adding something new that we haven't heard before. I bring the the Guide to Flatbush ZOMBiES.

D.R.U.G.S. (2012) This is the first mixtape installment by the Zombies. This mixtape was entirely produced by Zombie's member Erick Arc Elliott, in exception of Al Bundy which was produced by member Meech Darko. The mixtape only has one featured artist: Kilo Kush.

  • Face-Off thanks to ChipsHanden for bringing to light that I forgot Meech's solo performance on Face-Off.

  • JupiterSound Feat. Kilo Kush is one of my favorites and is unlike most of the Zombie's sound which is quick and heavy. When listening to the D.R.U.G.S. mixtape, this song changes the pace by bringing in a sweet melody of a woman's voice.

  • S.C.O.S.A. was the second song I had ever heard by the Zombies. This isn't one of their best flows, but I loved the beat enough to toss it into the mix. Juice does a nice job recovering Meech's botched flow in the beginning.

  • Thug Waffle This was the first Zombies song that I had heard. This song is for all of the reefer connoisseurs out there with raging munchies. I included the music video because Juice's face at 2:16 is priceless.

BetterOffDEAD (2013) This mixtape is personally my favorite because the group returns to Hip Hop's roots with several tracks, they include more featured artists like Action Bronson and Danny Brown, their producer Erick Arc Elliott raps more, and they instrumentally depict why they are the 'Zombies' in the songs Death and Death 2.

Train
  • G Tearz begins with a chilled out tempo that is reminiscent of the 90's and ends with a skit. > 'I woke up early in the morning and thought 'Why don't I roll a blunt?'.. Yea I definitely rolled that blunt'

  • Death shows that the Zombies are getting much better at rapping. The song features all three Zombies spitting their best. This song was featured for their BetterOffDEAD mixtape announcement, and after listening i'm sure you can hear why.

  • Regular and Complex (GNB) is a hybrid song that has a laid back beat and has the Zombies attacking like should. This shows Meech's clever word play and Erick's shout to > 'the niggas who make beats, but never get to shine'. Finally the song ends with another skit-like short that explains the difference between Guns and Butta', showing the vice of material possession.

  • Club Soda Feat. Action Bronson is a classic song that has an outline similar to all hip hop songs that shows the 'from the bottom to the top' story played out with new lyrics and fresh lyrics spat by Meech, Erick, and Action Bronson.

  • Palm Trees/vocabolario-italiano-portoghese-pdf-merge.html. features Meech, Juice, and Erick. This has to be one of my favorite off of the mixtape because of the general feel it gives the listener. This is the best blazing track.

  • MRAZ is my favorite Zombie song because it has all three rapping, shout outs to hip hop's finest, a Mass Appeal sample in the beginning, a Boyz In Da Hood sample in the end, and a bass heavy beat.

Featured Songs

  • RZA Just Blowin In the Wind Feat. Flatbush ZOMBiES is the song for the Wu-Tang Clan fans who like the Zombies thus far.

  • DyMe-A-DuZiN - New Brooklyn (Remix) Feat. Flatbush Zombies & The Underachievers Is a new hip hop song that has a resounding old school beat. This also features another Flatbush Rap group The Underachievers, who are also another one of my favorite rap groups.

  • ASAP Mob Bath Salt ft. Flatbush ZOMBiES This guide could not be complete without Bath Salt. In this song Meech and Juice out rap A$AP Ant and A$AP Rocky (personal opinion here).

  • Finally,A-Trak Feat. Juicy J, Jim Jones, Flatbush ZOMBiES, El-P & Flosstradamus - Piss Test (Remix)Piss Test is trap rap track that heavy bass lovers would cream themselves when seen and performed live. Mad props to Flosstradamus for making a beat that 6 rappers can spit on.
