We have bid on a building and can see the need to construct an elevator or a dumbwaiter
to be able to move parts to the 2nd floor. I'm looking for plans, ideas, supplies, equipment

just these thing's, can't find the name right off now.

For just parts, I know a local place that has a forklift mast modified as an elevator. Spot sunk in floor so the deck is flush with the rest and I think just a limit switch setup to stop pump motor at 2nd floor ht. Place a sign next to it that says Not for people and the controls can only be run from one or both of the floor levels not from the platform. They just had chain sides and a chain you place over the front to keep rolling carts from taking off.
I built one with a fork lift mast. It worked great and was easy as well. This one was used to move motorcycles to an upper level storage / display area. The guy I did it for had way to much money and a huge motorcycle collection. The forks lifted a 5' x 9' plate that was flush with the floor when it was down. A limit switch stopped the pump when the plate was up or down. I would hesitate, there are some serious liability issues even without moving people. I overheard a friend discussing some of the regs for people elevators (he was in the business for years) and they are serious about what is required.
